Masters in Classical (Biblical) Hebrew
with Specialization in Hebrew Pedagogy & Instruction

OVERVIEW

This program is designed for those desiring to multiply translations directly from the original authoritative Scriptures by teaching living biblical Hebrew to others and to earn an MA in the process. It consists of the SBH, additional advanced Hebrew course work, Hebrew Pedagogy plus an internship in Hebrew Instruction.

PART 1: SCHOOL OF BIBLICAL HEBREW

The first part of study is the School of Biblical Hebrew (SBH) in Jerusalem, in order to attain basic translation proficiency in Biblical Hebrew (48 credits). (See SBH page for more information.)

PART 2: ADDITIONAL JERUSALEM SEMESTERS

Upon completion of the SBH, while still in Jerusalem, participants may undertake additional semesters. Participants who have successfully completed the SBH will have completed level Gimel (level 3) in Hebrew. Participants who desire to complete the MA in Classical Hebrew will take one additional semester which will include completing level Dalet. (level 4). 

Those who want to qualify to become biblical Hebrew Instructors will take a fourth, fifth and sixth semester completing levels Dalet, (4) Heh (5) and Vav (6) concurrent with additional courses: See below for sample course offerings

Scripture Reading Requirement for all MA candidates

Prior to graduation each student is expected to have read the Hebrew Bible. The absolute minimum requirement entails the Torah (Breshit through Dvarim), the first 12 chapters of Isaiah, and 30 selected Psalms.
