Dr. Swarr serves as President and CEO of Whole Word Institute. He previously served on the leadership team of ION and stewarded the Audio Scripture Engagement portfolio. The global declaration of “Making disciples of the world’s oral learners through audio Scripture engagement” was a result of his collaborative effort with many organizations.

David was also a founder, President and CEO of Davar Partners International, an audio Scripture engagement organization with over 600 partner organizations in 90 nations.

David grew up in the Middle East and has lived and worked on five continents. He has a rich background in cross cultural leadership including senior positions in multinational companies, NGO’s, and a university, and holds a PhD in intercultural organizational leadership. Currently David and his wife Sharon split their time between Israel and the USA. They have two daughters.

Sharon lives in Jerusalem with her husband, who pastors an international congregation, and her three school-aged boys. She grew up in Africa, where her parents worked with Wycliffe, her father as a Bible translation consultant, and attended boarding school at Rift Valley Academy. She studied her tertiary degrees at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in Hebrew Bible.

Sharon is passionate about opening up the richness of the Bible through teaching biblical languages, which has been her main pursuit for the past 25 years.  She taught courses in Hebrew Bible, Hebrew, and Greek for several years in New York City at Nyack College Manhattan Campus.  She has been involved with curriculum development, training teachers, as well as teaching students for the Biblical Language Center before coming to Whole Word Institute.

If she had free time, she would enjoy going out into nature and pondering the time space continuum.

Gerhard serves as the Vice President of Academic Administration & Consultant Training and the Director of the Center for Oral Scriptures of Whole Word Institute. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of Orality. As a Bible translation consultant, he focuses on training in Oral Bible Translation as well as the training and mentorship of consultants-in-training. He also serves as a board member of Wycliffe South Africa and on their translation services workgroup.

He volunteers as Ambassador for Unashamedly Ethical, a global movement of individuals and organizations taking a stand for ethics, values and clean living. He served as one of the founding members, Senior Vice-President, and as President & CEO of Davar Partners International.

Gerhard is skilled in cross-cultural team leadership, team building, executive coaching, mentorship, leadership and organizational development, strategic development, public speaking, and teaching. He is passionately committed to building God’s Kingdom. He cares deeply for every people group, tribe, and language, especially those who lack access to and engagement with the Word of God. His primary motivation is to be faithful and obedient to the call of God on his life. He and his family live in Pretoria, South Africa.

Greg Anderson joined Union Church, Hong Kong as Senior Pastor in January 2007. He has served churches in England and in the US and has taught at Wheaton College. He has degrees from Wheaton, Princeton Seminary, Yale University, and the University of Minnesota. Greg has been married to and besotted by Holly for 29 years. They have four children: Lindsey, a chemical engineer in Boston, Andrew, a banker in London, Jamie, an actor in LA, and John, a student at Hong Kong University. Greg has a passion for preaching, evangelism, teaching, church growth, and equipping people for ministry in the marketplace. He gets teased for quoting C S Lewis too often and having a staff so stunning that people wonder what there is left for him to do. He collects and even reads books, watches baseball on the internet, and thanks God daily for the opportunity to serve with such an amazing congregation.

Dr. Hornkohl serves as Language Teaching Officer & Senior Research Associate in the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Cambridge, where he is also a fellow of Girton College. He serves as an adjunct faculty member of Whole Word Institute. He is married with three children.
