“Dan” is training in Jerusalem and specializing in Biblical Hebrew teaching for translation. He is passionate about Deaf people reviving Scripture in their own sign language. He shares his testimony at the 2024 graduation:

“Nine years ago, I was not a believer in the Lord, and I didn’t follow His ways. I climbed up a tree, intending to kill myself. I saw no point in continuing my life. But God poured out His Holy Spirit on me, and I felt His love. I started serving Him. I served in congregations and churches for eight years. Then, one day, I saw a vision where God told me, ‘You are going to study and teach other students in a land far from your own.’ When I came to Israel, I understood.  Despite many struggles and problems along the way, God always gave us grace. Now I can sign in Israeli Sign Language! I can speak Hebrew and read Hebrew. Hebrew has become a part of my life. And now I want to say thank you, Father, for giving me a beautiful new way.”

“Hadasah” trained with us in Jerusalem and plans to work with University of the Nations on Bible translations for the Kosrae-speaking people in Micronesia.

“Yehoshua” came to Jerusalem to become a consultant who can oversee multiple translation projects from Biblical Hebrew straight into local languages in Benin. He specialized in oral Bible translation to give the whole Bible to least reached people in Benin, and is working with Wycliffe for new language projects across West Africa.

“Devorah” is a translator with University of the Nations in Indonesia. She shares what God’s whole Word would mean to her community:

 

“Yehoshua” trained in Jerusalem to oversee multiple Old Testament translation projects, and now leads the first Hebrew Extension Learning Program (HELP) in Benin. He shares about his dream for his people:

“My dream, my most ardent desire is that our communities should have the Word of God. God has made His Word available so that we may know Him… Without Genesis and the rest of the Old Testament, how can we fully understand God the Creator’s plan of salvation? I sincerely hope that within a few years, the entire community will have access to the Word of God, whether in written or audio form.”

“Now I don’t just have hope, but a new gift— to help with translation for sign languages in Tonga and the South Pacific.”

Mele is from Tonga where she’s part of a translation team working on the Tonga Old Testament. She came to Jerusalem to become a consultant who can oversee multiple translation projects from biblical Hebrew straight into local languages. She specializes in both Deaf and oral Bible translation to accelerate full Bible translation for those communities in Tonga who do not have the whole Word in a language that speaks to their hearts.

“Avraham” is a translator who trained with us in Jerusalem and is working on new Bible translations with Wycliffe in Burkina Faso.

“Shlomo” is a Bible translation supervisor now serving with Wycliffe in Benin. He trained in Jerusalem and helps lead the first localized Hebrew Extension Learning Program there for translators across West Africa.

“What this community really wants is the whole Bible to be translated into this language, the Old Testament and the New Testament, fully translated and available to the people, so we can use the Holy Scriptures wherever needed to to teach, to counsel, to lead sessions; and so that the Word of God can enter this place and transform people’s hearts. That is the goal—community transformation.”

“Chesed” is a Bible translator training to oversee multiple translation projects for Bibleless people. She works with our partner University of the Nations; to accelerate Scripture access for oral people groups.

 

“Ruth” studied with us in Jerusalem and wants the whole Word of God to be available to her people in Micronesia.

“Who are we that God wants to work in our nations? The better question is, ‘How can I be closer to you, Father?’ When we draw closer to him, we can know the heart of God, so that everyone can walk with him, just like Adam walked with him in the Garden of Eden. But how can those who don’t know him, don’t know the Word of God, walk with him? It is upon us who understand his Word, to help them—everyone he wants to walk with him.”

 

“Hanah” is from Canada and is studying with us to be a Biblical Hebrew teacher for translation, in order to multiply full Bible translations around the world. She is mentoring other translators in Jerusalem as she completes her training there.

“Binyamin” is a translator and pastor from Benin who studied with us in Jerusalem and is working with Wycliffe in Benin on three language projects for West Africa.

“Sara” is from Bulgaria and is training with us to become a consultant who can oversee multiple translation projects from Biblical Hebrew straight into local languages. She specializes in Deaf and oral Bible translation, and Biblical Hebrew teaching so she can accelerate full Bible translation for communities without the whole Word in their own language.
