Niek tinggal di Yerusalem bersama istri dan ketiga anaknya. Ia dibesarkan di Belanda, menerima gelar ThM dari ETF di Leuven, Belgia. Setelah itu ia pindah ke Israel untuk melanjutkan belajar bahasa Ibrani. Dia mengambil gelar MA dalam bidang Alkitab dan Dunianya di Rothberg International School, Yerusalem dan gelar PhD di Universitas Ibrani Yerusalem dengan disertasi tentang bahasa kitab Yesaya.

He has taught Biblical Hebrew for the Biblical Language Center, The University of the Holy Land and Jerusalem Center for Bible Translators. He has worked with Whole Word Institute since 2018, starting with a course on Isaiah, but has also taught Biblical Hebrew, poetry, the cultural background of the Hebrew Bible and has led many field trips. He loves to be involved in teaching Bible translators.
